My name is Shadei Terry-Coleman, I am 22 years old and the current Miss Newark 2012 ! I am currently a student at Essex County College in Newark , NJ majoring in Buisness Administration. I hope to one day become a succesful entrepreneur and go into a career in broadcasting. I am also the founder of my organization the "Princess Dream Closet" ; which will help to provide high school girls in need with a prom wardrobe , which I am currently developing. I started competing in pageants after I graduated high school at the age of 17 , I thought it would be fun and something different ! I had no idea what pageants had to offer and the hard work and dedication it takes to take home a crown. Although disappointed after my first pageant I learned so much about the type of person I was and about the world of pageantry. I knew that although I did not win , I discovered something I loved and a new outlet in which I could express myself. I continually competed in different pageants throughout the state of NJ including MAO and Miss NJ USA pageants. I learned more and more about competition with each year and I grew as a competitor as well as a person. On Feb 25 2012 my hard work had finally paid off and I was crowned Miss Newark 2012 ! It was such a great feeling to know that I worked hard and it showed. My dream of winning a title and having my own sash and crown came true. My goal is to one day win the title of Miss NJ USA and compete at the Superbowl of pageants Miss USA !!! Pageants have taught me so much and have helped me grow and gain confidence . I hope to be a positive role model to young girls and show the importance of confidence, intelligence , and ambition.
